George Clooney as Lyn Cassady is a combination of several real-life psychic spies. Elements of his character are primarily based on Glenn Wheaton. Additionally, he has background details that match that of Guy Savelli, the man who claims to have killed a goat by staring it down and now runs a dance studio just as Lyn does in the film. Also, some of Lyn's actions in the film echo Peter Brusso's interactions with Jon Ronson, particularly the Predator scene, and the "attack me" scene

The Men Who Stare At Goats - Hero Lyn Cassady (George Clooney) New Earth Army Fatigues
The Hero Lyn Cassady (George Clooney) New Earth Army Fatigues from the 2009 comedic war film, The Men Who Stare at Goats. In the film, reporter Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) intends to do a story on the Iraq war while in Kuwait, but there he finds the story of a lifetime when he pairs with Lyn Cassady and learns about the armies division of psychic warriors (Jedi Warriors). These army fatigues can be screen matched to Cassady's initiation into the New Earth Army, led by Bill Django (Jeff Bridges). The camouflage pattern, which is unique to each uniform, matches perfectly to both his pants and shirt. The shirt, which buttons up in front, features numerous patches that have been stitched on, including his name tag, New Earth Army emblem, his rank, and an Airborne patch.
